Documentary & Archival Work

Working primarily through photography, with elements of writing and audio collection, Makala approaches documentation as a reflective process rather than a purely factual one. These works function as living archives, projects like Proof of Presence and the Caretta Research Project explore how personal memory and nature intersect. Through slow observation, her documentation work is an act of care.
